• Tell everybody the outcomes of the questionnaire survey
• Identify the priorities for future work
• Form new project groups
• Outline the Petersfield Partnership

Progress so far
• Petersfield Tomorrow, based on a Market Town Health Check was launched at public events in February 04.
• Steering Group and 4 Topic Groups were formed:
– Work and Business
– Environment
– Transport
– Social and Community

Progress 04 -05
• Facts and information gathered for snapshot of area, displayed at sites around the town and at a public exhibition in October 04
• A SWOT analysis undertaken
• Public session with a range of public, private and voluntary sectors in March 05
• TPS pupils also encouraged to give input

Brochure and Questionnaire 06
• Between Summer 05 and Winter 05/06 – Brochure and Questionnaire drafted
• An overall vision and the key issues for each topic group were identified
• Distribution (7500) to all households and most businesses in Petersfield
• Surrounding parishes also included
• Just under 600 were returned 7.5% response rate
• About 1000 comments – mostly positive, with additional responses were received
• Analysis has used Strongly Agree, Agree to indicate preferences and priorities

Key findings – Strongly agree and agree
1. Conserving natural environment - 97%
2. Local products – more available - 95%
3. Better business waste collection - 93%
4. Preserve character – design statement - 91%
5. More job opportunities for young - 90%
6. Increase availability of transport info. 89%
7. Improve co-ordination of public transport - 88%
8. Improve public transport to key facilities - 87%

Key findings – Strongly agree and agree

9. Reduce congestion by delivery vehicles – 87%
10. Co-ordinate town centre management – 85%
11. Better hotel and conference facilities – 85%
12. Better bus services - 81%
13. Improve pedestrian and cycling routes – 79%
14. Increase range of activities in Square – 79%
15. More film showings - 78%
16. A Children’s Centre - 75%
17. Experiment with pedestrianisation - 74%

Additional Comments
• Lot of concern and support for recycling
• More sports facilities
• Support for Grange birth centre
• Support for the Kings Arms
• Strong views for and against pedestrianisation
• No more development v. need for more affordable housing

• 40 mins to develop project proposal and consider options and action plan
• Groups will need a chair and someone to feedback
• Each group will have 3 mins to present ideas etc
• Essential that each group has contact details for next stages

Project Groups – Next Steps
• Each group will need to develop an action plan and timetable
• We would anticipate that projects will be developed during the coming year
• BUT it is up to each group to decide how they wish to proceed
• This is a Community Partnership project

The Petersfield Town Partnership
• These new project groups mean that the Steering Group needs to dissolve
• In its place, it is proposed to form the Petersfield Town Partnership with constitution and budget
• This would oversee project groups and future work
• It would be launched in October
• Membership from community, businesses and relevant statutory bodies
• Able to access funding from HCC, South Downs, SEEDA, Lottery etc

The Petersfield Town Partnership
• Partnership will enable action plans to be developed and implemented
• Community engaged in future of town and district
• Better awareness and understanding between community and statutory sectors
• Coordination of different projects will be improved
• Input for plans, policies and funding of local authorities, regional agencies etc
• Community able to implement innovative ideas and projects with support and funding
• Partnership working will ensure Vision for Petersfield will happen
