Progress and key issues
Petersfield Tomorrow, based on a Market Town Health Check, was launched at public events in February 04.
A Steering Group and 4 Topic Groups were formed:
- Work and Business
- Environment
- Transport
- Social and Community
Progress 04 - 05
- Facts and information gathered for snapshot of area, displayed at sites around the town and at a public exhibition in October 04
- SWOT analysi swas undertaken
- Public session with a range of public, private and voluntary sectors in March 05
- TPS pupils also encouraged to give input
Brochure and Questionnaire 06
- Between Summer 05 and Winter 05/06 – Brochure and Questionnaire drafted
- An overall vision and the key issues for each topic group were identified
- Distribution (7500) to all households and most businesses in Petersfield
- Surrounding parishes also included
- Just under 600 were returned 7.5% response rate
- About 1000 comments – mostly positive, with additional responses were received
- Analysis has used Strongly Agree, Agree to indicate preferences and priorities

Each group has a facilitator and a brief. 40 mins to develop project proposal and consider options and action plan. Groups will need a chair and someone to feedback. Each group will have 3 mins to present ideas etc. Essential that each group has contact details for next stages

The Petersfield Town Partnership
These new project groups mean that the Steering Group needs to dissolve; In its place, it is proposed to form the Petersfield Town Partnership with constitution and budget. This would oversee project groups and future work. It would be launched in October. Membership from community, businesses and relevant statutory bodies. Able to access funding from HCC, South Downs, SEEDA, Lottery etc
The Partnership will enable
- action plans to be developed and implemented
- Community engagement in the future of town and district
- Better awareness and understanding between community and statutory sector
- Improved coordination of different projects
- Input for plans, policies and funding of local authorities, regional agencies etc
- Community to implement innovative ideas and projects with support and funding
- Partnership working will ensure Vision for Petersfield will happen
