Petersfield Tomorrow was launched at public meetings in February 2004. A Steering Group was formed together with four work groups which then produced a snapshot of the town identifying the key issues for Petersfield. A public exhibition in October 2004 was used to explain the work that had been undertaken and to invite feedback and comments.
This enabled a draft action plan to be prepared, which was considered at an open evening in March 2005. Following this event, the plan was finalised for publication in March 2006 as a booklet and questionnaire entitled “Do you care about the future of your town? This is your chance to have your say”. This was distributed around the town and its district. Once the responses have been collected and the analysis done, an Action Plan will be finalised to provide guidance for future investment in the town and its infrastructure. 587 responses have been received to date and captured by an analysis tool. The comments made on the questionnaire have also been captured and work has started on their analysis - 70% of respondents have made comment.
An Open Meeting was held in the Rose Room, Festival Hall on the 11th September 2006 to promote continued input and involvement and to identify the most pressing issues leading to an action plan for specific projects. Tony Struthers gave a presentation on the achievements to date, working groups considered the results of the consultation and the outputs of the meeting were recorded.
The Petersfield Partnership was launched at a public meeiing at the Community Centre on Monday 30th October 2006. The formation of the Partnership is necessary to achieve external funding for the Projects identified as a result of the public consultation. The public are invited to become members of the Partnership either as members of its Executive or its working groups.
TheTown Mayor of Petersfield was invited to welcome the the launch and make an introduction.
