Our Vision
"By 2015, Petersfield will be the western hub for the South Downs National Park: where people of all ages want to live, work and visit; that respects its character and heritage; manages and maintains its public facilities and infrastructure to a high standard and ensures that all its residents have access to its services and amenities."
Petersfield Tomorrow February 2006
A visitor brand & logo for Petersfield - we need your views!
With the recent announcement of the creation of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield Tomorrow are looking at how to enhance the image of Petersfield for visitors. Our research has shown that Petersfield suffers from a lack of a distinct identity, and there is no consistent theme or message being projected. Therefore one of our key initiatives is to develop a brand for Petersfield, which will include; a logo, icon, typeface, colour scheme, and a coherent message.
Petersfield’s key characteristics we wish to promote are:
- The historical character of the town
- The high standard of food & retail opportunities
- It is surrounded by great and accessible countryside.
At the Tourist Information Centre you will find 5 initial logo concepts that reflect these ideas. We need your feedback to help us find the most suitable for Petersfield, so please spend a few moments to give us your thoughts.

Town Design Statement (TDS)
The TDS has been prepared by the Town Character Group, in collaboration with East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) and with the extensive participation of the local community.
It identifies what makes Petersfield distinctive, the unique traits of its different areas, and the aesthetic issues which affect them, making recommendations to help to maintain and enrich the setting of our buildings, and shape environmental improvements, new spaces and facilities.
The TDS provides design guidance and recommendations for the town including the village of Sheet.
The latest version of the Town Design Statement was displayed in the Library on Saturday 14th February to allow the public to contibute and comment. Members of the Town Character Group were available to explain the document and to answer questions. If you wish to contribute your ideas please address them to Winton House, 18 High Street, Petersfield, GU32 3JL by 28th February if possible. |
